A Length of Horizontally Striped Cotton: Subtle Colors

$45.00 USD

ca. late nineteenth, early twentieth century
68" x 13", 173 cm x 33 cm

Beautiful in its subtlety and straightforwardness, this is a length of hand loomed, indigo dyed cotton that shows a repeat based on a group of three horizontal bars which moves along the length of the cloth in regular intervals.

The woven striped pattern is low-contrast: the stripes are a kind of dull grey against the soft, dark indigo.

Muted, hand loomed and lovely.  One small hole, and in otherwise very good, used condition.
