A Beautifully Simple Hand Made Tokkuri: Old Sake Flask

$185.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
10" x 3 1/2" diameter, 25.5 cm x 9 cm diameter

This elegantly shaped bottle is a tokkuri or a traditional sake flask: its longĀ form and its slightly bowed body are beautifully proportioned to one another. The slight dimple in the top, center of the tokkuri is a lovely detail as is the mottled, buff-colored glaze that covers the flask.

The tokkuri is heavy in the hand. It may have been made for use at an inn or hotel due to its size but what is nice about it is its slender form and the nicely detailed lip which shows a bit of very slight wear.

A simply beautiful object.
