A Two-Process Shibori Han Juban: Beautiful Combination

It needs no mention that this indigo dyed cotton shibori han juban is a very beautiful example of shibori dyeing and a beautiful object itself.

The white cotton ground is bright white, and the indigo dyed shibori is a rich saphhire-blue color. There are two shibori processes which were used to decorate this cloth, a pleated stripe and what appears to be a version of arashi shibori called hasu ami or diagonal diamond net which has been selectively dyed to produce a large-scale, overall, net-like pattern.  The result is beautiful and textural: the undyed portions that were hand molded to produce the arashi shibori still show the the undulating or puckered effect from this process.

In very good condition, this beauty is a wonderful thing to own, to study and to admire.

Recommended.
