A Large Miura Shibori Cotton Textile: Machine Stitched

$210.00 USD

mid twentieth century
44" x 31", 112 cm x 79 cm

This good-sized, light cotton cloth was dyed using the miura shibori method, a design which produces droplet-shapes arranged rather freely. Judging by the size and proportion of the cloth it was more than likely a koshimaki or an undergarment that was worn tied around the waist.

The actual coloration of this shibori dyed cotton piece is more strikingly fresh than is seen in the accompanying detail photos. The piece is machine stitched from five pieces and shows a hand stitched, katazome dyed patch, detailed here.

A really beautiful, large piece of this good-quality shibori cloth showing rich color and a lovely shibori technique.
