A Length of Richly Dyed Katazome Cotton: Deep Indigo and Clear Red Orange

$75.00 USD

early twentieth century
38 1/2" x 14", 98 cm x 35.5 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton katazome that shows a repeat pattern of chrysanthemums against a background of slender trailing vines or arabesques.

A field of resist-dyed small dots are scattered on the ground and create a bit of sparkling light in the overall design.

The indigo is deep in tone and the length seems as if it has had very little wear. One of the most interesting details relative to that is that the areas of red-orange which add depth or light to the piece are still very saturated. This is a nice detail.

This is an richly toned, nicely designed length of antique cloth that is in very good, used condition.
