A Length of Striped Cotton: Two Patches

$45.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
68" x 14", 172.5 cm x 35.5 cm

This beautifully colored length of striped cotton is a classic type that was used on futon covers in old Japan, therefore this is a panel taken from one of them.

The stripes are wide and variegated in color tone and this length is clearly hand woven and the cotton yarns seem to be hand spun. What adds to the charm of this piece of old cloth is the addition of the two mending patches which are featured on the detail photographs shown on this post.

A very good looking length of cotton from old Japan.
