A Length of Low Contrast Plaid: Changing Warp on Top

$75.00 USD

early twentieth century
68 1/2" x 13", 174 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of low-contrast, interestingly neutral-toned hand woven cotton whose color is a kind of green-grey-blue-grey. Hard to describe.

It is a good, long piece of plaid cotton whose warp yarns might be leftover: if you look at the warp-based stripes you will see that each column is slightly different.

Most interesting is the detail at the top of the length which is shown as the last photo here. You will see that the warp changes suddenly, as if this length was somehow forced onto a different warp entirely.

Weavers will understand this.

Very handsome.
