A Small Resist Dyed Furoshiki: Recycled Cottons

This smallish, resist dyed, indigo cotton furoshiki was used as a wrapping or carrying cloth in old Japan.

It is composed of five separate pieces of cotton that have been machine stitched together.  On the bottom half of the furoshiki is shown a resist dyed, encircled kanji: please have a look at the details of this resist dyed decoration to see that there is a small spray of stains, some small snags to the cotton and some small holes.

This is a really charming thing which is put together with good, old cloth.
