A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Rangey Chrysanthemums

$30.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
27 1/4" x 13 1/4", 69 cm x 33.5 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.

The pattern shows a design of highly stylized, stitched shibori chrysanthemums that each show long, attenuated petals are positioned as an opposing pair.

The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.

Wonderful to look at!
