A Machine and Hand Stitched Cloth: Strong Diagonals

This length of lightweight canvas-like undyed cotton is machine stitched in field of criss-crossing dark blue diagonals. Along with these blue lines there is a zigzagging, hand stitched white line that acts as a subtle design counterpoint to the field of blue diagonals.
The edges are hand stitched in blue thread. It is unclear what function this cloth was intended for but it is unusual in execution and design.
There is a bit of discoloration to the center, back of the piece but other than that it is in good, used condition.
Just lovely.
