A Sashiko Stitched Child's Kendogi: Machine and Hand Sashiko Stitched

This charming, small-sized cotton jacket is machine stitched from commercially loomed cotton and then sashiko stitched by hand in an familiar criss-cross pattern in two sizes.

The jacket is a kendogi or a coat worn when practicing the Japanese traditional martial art called kendo, a kind of swordsmanship that utilizes bamboo poles and protective clothing and armor.

The design and execution of this small, brown-toned cotton coat is typical of kendogi but its scaled-down size adds charm. 

With the exception of few loose or broken sashiko threads and some overall patina from wear this coat is in good, used condition.
