An Off-Square Boro Panel: 19th Century

$95.00 USD

late nineteenth century
43" x 36", 109.25 cm x 91.5 cm

This boro panel is probably a segment taken from a larger piece, presumably a futon cover, and the futon cover was undoubtedly made from a recycled, cotton, every day kimono.

Although tattered and with some holes, this is a very attractive boro textile for its significant age and its good cotton pieces. The colors are richer than depicted here; the blues are truer than shown.

Why you should consider acquiring this boro textile is its good age and its very nice arrangement of hand woven cottons. This cloth speaks loud of an era of Japan, the late nineteenth century or possibly earlier.
