A Wide, Mended Length of Cotton: Delightfully Quirky Patches

$75.00 USD

mid twentieth century
40" x 32", 101.5 cm x 81.25 cm

This piece of wide, commercially produced cotton is dyed a strange, dull, mauve/tan color and shows five really delightful patches which are hand stitched to the base cloth using black thread.

The scale of the patches to the base cloth and their quirky positioning on the field is really charming; there is almost a "cartoon" effect to these patches as they communicate a lighthearted visual feeling.

The cotton itself is worn and faded with some faint staining which was attempted to be illustrated on the accompanying detail photographs.

This is a good-sized piece of old, mended cotton cloth and one that has some kind of delightful and surprising charm.
