A Length of Patched Striped Silk and Cotton: Boro

$75.00 USD

early twentieth century
55" x 13", 139.75 cm x 33 cm

This length of old hand woven cloth is composed of two pieces with seven mending patches hand stitched to the surface.

The pale colored warp yarns, or the light colored vertical stripes, are of silk yarn while the indigo colored vertical stripes are of cotton yarn.

The combination of silk and cotton gives this length a smooth and supple hand. The coloration is rich and unusual.

Certainly this piece is still durable enough to be worn as a scarf or to be displayed in the home as an accessory.

Beautiful.
