Each of these switches of unplied hemp fiber is different, however each conforms to the general dimensions given above. Each has its own shape and size, the variety due to the fact that they are all hand twisted.
They are twisted for storage with some of the finer pieces being braided, as can be seen in the accompanying detail photos.
A really good reminder of old Japan and its rural weaving.
