A Length of Open Weave Hemp and Cotton Cloth: Mosquito Netting

$55.00 USD

early twentieth century
69" x 14 1/2", 124.5 cm x 37 cm

This is a length of green toned hemp mesh cloth that show stripes of white colored, narrow and evenly spaced warp-base stripes.

This is a panel from a kaya or mosquito netting, hence the loose, open weave of the cloth.

The color is a beautiful, deep, rich, mossy green and the bast fiber yarns are rustic and wiry. The cloth shows a hole to the bottom, left (pictured) and in the same area there is a weaving flaw in the weft yarn area.

A lovely length of old kaya with a very good, rough texture
