A Pieced Pictorial Kinchaku: Chirimen and Jacquard Silk

$55.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
as shown: 7" x 9" x 9", 18 cm x 23 cm x 23 cm

This is a lovely, hand made drawstring bag, presumably carried by a girl or a young woman.

The bottom of the bag is a collage of chirimen or crepe silk, the collage being a pictorial one showing a rising sun, morning mist and a pair of pine trees. The bag itself is made of a kind of commercially produced jacquard type silk. It ties with a silk cord.

A fun and traditional bag from old Japan, and it has very little noticeable wear from use.

Lovely.
