A Length of Beautiful 19th Century Kasuri Cotton: Stripes

$80.00 USD

late nineteenth century
56" x 13", 142 cm x 33 cm

This is absolutely beautiful length of 19th century hand woven cotton.

The rich, muted colors, and the indigo dyed hand spun cotton yarns are those used to weave cloth in old Japan: this length is emblematic of 19th century Japanese cottons for those reasons.

The pattern is just gorgeous. It is of variegated warp-oriented stripes interspersed with columns of kasuri.

The length shows overall patina from wear and on the top of the length there is a series of small holes from left to right.

A wonderful length of cotton from old Japan.

Recommended.
