A Repaired Length of Large-Scale Kasuri Cotton: Well Cover Motif

$30.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
61"  x 12 1/4", 155 cm x 30.5 cm

This is length of black colored cotton that has been woven in the kasuri or ikat technique, showing large-scale "well covers," a traditional Japanese design motif.

The well covers sit within a wide grid and 4 1/2 are shown on this length which was undoubtedly taken from a futon cover.

The cloth is light faded and shows overall wear and patina, and note there is one patched area which can be seen on the accompanying detail photos.

A lovely length of traditional kasuri weaving.
