A Resist Dyed Fragment: Hanabishi or Diamond Flower
$28.00 USD
early twentieth century
26" x 13 1/4", 66 cm x 33.5 cmÂ
This is a beautiful little fragment of indigo dyed, hand spun, hand woven cotton that shows a resist-dyed mon or emblem, in the case it is the diamond flower or hanabishi.
The indigo dye is still dark and rich in tone; the cotton itself shows the patina from wear, not unusual for a length of hand woven cotton that is 100 years old.
A delightful little piece of cloth from old Japan.
