A Length of Resisted Indigo Dyed Cotton: Pine Bark or Diamond Motif

This is a length of indigo dyed, hand spun cotton cloth that shows an exceptionally stark and beautiful resisted design, that of a diamond or pine bark.

The length is a dark, very dense blue color, almost black. The contrasting resisted design is in beautiful relation to the length, both in terms of its scale and its placement. The condition is very good and seemingly unused.

This is a particularly strong design and one that exemplifies the power of simplicity in design, one of the most compelling traits of Japanese art.
