A Length of Resist Dyed Cotton Gauze: Unusual Design

$55.00 USD

mid to late twentieth century
52" x 13 3/4", 132 cm x 35 cm

This is a length of gauzy cotton mesh that has been resisted with a repeat design of karakusa or a trailing vine over which is super imposed two large mon or family crests.

The crest on the top is that of pauwlonia while the one on the bottom is the crossed feather motif which is flanked by two long leaf forms.

The color is a deep green, probably a synthetic dyestuff and the condition is good.

A visually interesting length of gauzy, clingy cotton.
