A Length of Patched Indigo Dyed Katazome: Faux Kasuri
$40.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
30" x 13", 76 cm x 33 cm
This is a charming length of lightweight cotton that has been dyed in the katazome or stencil resist dyed process.
The stencil dyed pattern shown here is interesting because it was meant to mimic kasuri, an ikat dyeing process. The repeat design is that of a simple double kasuribut rendered using stencils.
The length is used and fairly old and the color is still relatively bright and the condition is good.
The one patch in a contrasting scale of pattern to the base cloth is a wonderful touch.
