A Length of Light Toned Indigo Katazome Cloth: Hemp or Ramie

$80.00 USD

early twentieth century
55" x 12 1/2", 139.75 cm x 32 cm

This is a length of medium-to-light blue toned hemp or ramie cloth that was dyed in the katazome method.

The pattern is interesting because of the play on the classic tatewaku design which is often shown as undulating, parallel lines. In this case, because in between the rows of curved lines there are roundels showing stylized rain dragons, the undulating parallel lines look like water.

This length was taken from a futon cover and there is a bit of a turn in the center of the piece, meaning it is not perfectly straight from top to bottom.

Otherwise the piece is in very good, used condition with no obvious holes, stains or damage.
