This length of katazome dyed cloth that shows a wonderful image, that of swirls and whorls that are, in fact, rain dragons.
The hand spun, hand woven cotton that is the base cloth for this length is so textured that the complex yet delicate design seems to merge with the fibers that support it.
The indigo has oxidized and has become greyish and there is overall fading to the piece which makes the lush design more subtle than when it was newly made.
The effect of the swirling rain dragons is visually appealing and it is a very rare variation on this motif.
