This is a length of katazome dyed cotton showing a classic pattern of stylized chrysanthemums against a field of arabesque.
In this case, the chrysanthemums are placed in a playful manner against the white dotted indigo background creating a lighthearted effect.
The reddish color that is part of the design is faded to a dull tone and this somehow adds to the overall sense of buoyancy conveyed by the pattern.
On hand spun, hand woven cotton, the length is in good, used condition with overall light fading and some even wear.
