A Length of Gently Faded Katazome Cotton: Interlocking Hexagons

$85.00 USD

late nineteenth century
42 1/2" x 13", 108 cm x 33 cm

This length of low-contrast or subtly patterned indigo dyed katazome cotton shows a  geometric repeat pattern of interlocking hexagons or six pointed stars.

The lines used to create the pattern are a reference to stylized wisteria leaves. Inside each hexagon is an invented flower drawn entire of small dots or points.

The cloth shows some slight surface wear and the color has faded a bit giving the length a nice, subtle patina from use.

In used condition this is a very handsome example of katazome dyeing with quite a good pattern.
