A Length of Dark Toned Katazome Cotton: Moody Design
$85.00 USD
early twentieth century
32" x 14 1/4", 81.5 cm x 36 cm
This length of indigo dyed katazome cotton is unusual for its murkily-dark pattern: the design is that of a background of low contrast shippo tsunagi or the Buddhist interlocking circles pattern with a foreground of shimmering, cross shapes.
The cloth is hand woven of hand spun cotton and is relatively heavy weight. The pattern itself is unusual for its toned-down, dark effect--and this is something interesting to look at regardless of the rarity of this type of design.
This is a wonderful length of old, katazome cloth.
