A Child's Pieced Padded Accessory: Small Crepe Silk Squares

$125.00 USD

early twentieth century
13 1/2" x 12", 34 cm x 30.5 cm

This padded, small and utterly charming little hand stitched pieced silk accessory was intended to be worn by a baby or small child. It seems as if it were to be used as a cover for the belly.

The multi-colored crepe silk pieces are each around the size of a large postage stamp,

There is artistry in their color distribution which has a kind of suggested visual syncopation to it. There is a black velvet addition to the top of the pad and the piece is quilted with green colored cotton thread which can be seen both front and back.

Because this piece is padded it has a bit of dimension to it and it would lovely hanging up, sort of as a kind of sculptural artwork.

Super delightful.
