A Child's Pair of Patched Pants: Plaids and Mending

$85.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
as shown: 21" x 17 1/12", 53.5 cm x 44.5 cm

This is a pair of children's cotton trousers which are shown inside-out in order to highlight its charming and unintentionally artful patching and mending.

The base cloth is a nice, brown-toned plaid cotton and as is easily seen the patches that are hand stitched to it are, for the most part, also plaid cottons.

The trouser cuffs and the waist are elasticized which was a feature that was not uncommon for Japanese clothing in the 1930s and later. This feature was seen on both Western tailored clothing as well as on traditional work clothing, too.

The condition overall is good and used and these are super charming to look at.
