A Child's Kimono of Yamatogasuri: Specialty Kasuri from Nara

This child's cotton kimono is woven in a kasuri technique called Yamatogasuri. 

Yamatogasuri is a distinctive kasuri cloth that is made in Nara. It is woven in countless variations that show great differences in scale, tone and design. This particular kimono is wonderful in that it shows a fairly delicate pattern that is very much in keeping with the small scale of the garment.

The kimono is completely hand stitched and there are no noticeable flaws to the cloth, with the exception of the slight unraveling to a bit of stitching on one of the ties that are located on the front of the garment.

The cotton cloth itself is well-worn and drapey in the hand, with a just beautiful pattern and design.
