A Child's Hand Stitched Kimono: Re-Purposed Cottons

$90.00 USD

early twentieth century
shoulder to hem x sleeve tip to sleeve tip: 24" x 21 3/4", 61 cm x 55.5 cm

This adorable kasuri dyed cotton kimono is hand stitched from recycled or re-purposed cloth, probably cloth culled from an adult kimono.

Two types of cotton are used, one being kasuri as mentioned above and the other being a striped cloth, both in shades of dark grey/blue neutrals. They look good together.

The little kimono is in good, used condition with no stains or tears to the cloth. No doubt there were two ties to the front of the cloth and these are now missing.

Still, this is a delightful thing to look at, and we can imagine the small child that wore this hand made garment well over 100 years ago.

Recommended.
