A Child's Cotton Kimono: Subtle Checks
$65.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
31" x 35", 78.75 cm x 89 cm
This cotton kimono was worn by a child, as the twisted, slightly soiled, long, "obi" ties on the front of the garment show.
It is hand stitched from subtle, brown-olive-grey checked cotton and it is lined with blue cotton.
It seems that the child who wore this garment was well-behaved: the cotton is in very good shape and the piece shows very little wear.
A very lovely thing, and a potent reminder of life in old Japan.
