A Child's Boro Han Juban: Small Garment of Re-Purposed Cotton
$75.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
shoulder to hem x sleeve tip to sleeve tip: 17 1/2" x 31 1/2", 44.5 cm x 80 cm
This small garment--probably a half under-kimono--is a child's and was hand stitched from re-purposed cottons.
This item of underwear is hand stitched and was well-used as can be seen by its condition: some holes to the proper, left front top and from the loose stitching on the armhole area of the back of the garment.
This small garment may have been used by several children, one by one, as each grew out of it, and it is a valuable document that tells quite a bit about what children wore in old Japan.
