A Charming Short Noren: Katazome Curtain

$45.00 USD

early twentieth century
18" x 24 1/2", 45.75 cm x 62 cm

This charming little noren or door hanging seems to have been fashioned as a craft project fairly recently, but it is very well-done and made from late nineteenth, early twentieth century katazome cotton.

The center seam is machine stitched but all the rest of the work seems to be done by hand, most notably the white sashiko stitching on either side of the noren. A silk cord is knotted in the center of the noren, the color of which matches the color of the thread on the tabs.

Really fun. Very lovely. Beautifully crafted.
