A Length of Boldly Patterned Katazome Cloth: Large Scale Maple Leaves

$95.00 USD

early twentieth century
38" x 13 1/4", 96.5 cm x 33.5 cm

What a bold and sparkling pattern that is embedded in this length of old, indigo dyed cotton katazome cloth: it shows large-scale maple leaves that are set behind brushy strokes of cross hatches, the effect of this design is eye catching.

The maple leaves are designed in such a way as to enhance the dazzling effect--they are not drawn with solid lines. Instead their outlines are rendered as a series of broken lines which makes them seem a bit translucent as they appear on this length.

The indigo tone is dark blue and the visual effect of this unusual or not-often-seen pattern has immediate and rich appeal.

The condition is good and used and the color, overall, is consistent and deep.
