A Length of Patched Plaid Cloth: Contrast

$75.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
71" x 14", 180.5 cm x 35.5 cm

This is a length of handsomely colored plaid cotton cloth that shows light, fairly all over staining (illustrated on the detail photo that accompanies this post) which does not detract from the visual enjoyment of this piece.

What adds to the appeal of it is the seven dark colored, striped cotton patches of different sizes that are hand stitched to the surface, creating a nice visual syncopation.

The length is missing one of its selvedges and more than likely this was taken from a futon cover.

Between the nice color and pattern of the base cloth and the densely toned patches, this is really enjoyable to look at.
