A Length of Katazome Dyed Cotton: Splotchy Fading

$30.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
30" x 13", 76 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of jishiro or blue-on-white katazome cotton that shows a tight repeat pattern of the classic well cover motif rendered in small scale.

The indigo tone of the length has softened over time and there is overall fading to the length along with clouds of more intense fading which are easily seen on the accompanying detail photos.

This is a nice length of katazome which is dyed onto a good piece of old cotton; the flaws from wear might add to its rustic charm.
