A Group of Four Katazome Fragments: Chrysanthemum and Paulownia

$60.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
each piece approximately 9" x 12.5", 23 cm x 31.5 cm

This is a group of four katazome dyed cotton patterns, each a narrow piece from a larger bolt but each showing a floral design which is dyed onto hand woven, hand spun cotton.

The top and bottom patterns show paulownia, the second and third ones show  stylized chrysanthemums.

This is a really delightful suite of charming katazome patterns which is presented here in hopes someone who collects katazome or admires this technique will appreciate the diversity of stylization and presentation of subject matter as shown on these fragments.
