A Rich, Dark Colored Sakiori Obi: Ragweave

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
116" x 6 1/2", 294.5 cm x 16.5 cm

This is a lovely, dark-toned sakiori obi, or a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.

The warp yarns are of black dyed cotton and the weft yarns are of muted, murky tones of grey/brown, with narrow, fairly regular stripes of a slightly lighter tone.  Please note some fairly regular, all-over losses to the weft yarns, shown in the accompanying photographs.

This lovely obi is in good, used condition with the above stated areas of loss.  Otherwise the condition is sturdy and the color is very handsome.

A beautiful, richly toned folk textile.
