An Unusually Designed Length of Kasuri: Cotton and Silk

$65.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
69 1/2" x 14", 176 1/2" x 35.5 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton kasuri cloth whose orange and warp-based white stripes are of silk, not cotton.

The design of this length is odd, with its compact, vertical lines clustered on the left hand side of the design, with the right hand showing a strange, repeat weft-based kasuri image of a chrysanthemum/ rising sun.

Most surely taken from a futon cover, this is a curious design whose cloth is in good, used condition.

A lovely length of hand woven cloth from old Japan.
