A Patched Cotton Trouser Leg: Stitched Closed

$35.00 USD

mid to late twentieth century
32 1/2" x 15 1/2", 82.5 cm x 39 cm

This is a charming textile: it appears to be a trouser leg taken from a pair of patched cottonĀ monpei or work trousers, and it seems that the entire leg was flattened and sashiko stitched together, ostensibly to create a large zokin or cleaning cloth.

A lovely, unusual textile, this one certainly has character and shows a bit of humor in its resourcefulness.
