Twentieth Century Boro: Hand Stitched Commercial Cottons
mid twentieth century
67" x 15", 170 cm x 38 cm
This pale, colored, boro beauty is hand stitched from commercially produced cottons. Its body is quite riddled with small holes which can be seen by looking closely at the accompanying detail photographs posted here.
The pattern on the cotton cloth is a lovely, traditional one and shows red-colored vertically oriented stripes in gradient widths. The length itself is crimped in the center by hand stitched pleat.
A beautiful boro length for display, inspiration and study, but not recommended to wear as the cotton is weak.
