These three balls are of indigo dyed cotton yarn and seem to have been used in--or destined for--kasuri weaving. The cotton yarn does not seem to be hand spun and they were said to have been collected in the Nishijin neighborhood of Kyoto, a well-known center of weaving, dyeing, embroidery, etc.

The color is deep and the contrast is low. There is a barely faint--barely--cast of slight yellowing to one of the yarns, so imperceptible it might not be worth noting here.

Lovely things.
