An Unusual Tsutsugaki Boro Fragment: Large Scale Drawing
$75.00 USD
ca. late nineteenth century
36" x 13 3/4", 91.5 cm x 35 cm
This threadbare, slightly hole-ly, boro length of tsutsugaki cotton is really lovely for its dramatic and graphic appeal.
It is not known what this large-scale image is meant to be--clearly it is a fragment taken out of context from a complete image--but the convoluting vegetal form is a wonderful caption from a larger piece.
This fragment has about 8 holes of various sizes and it is mended with three patches. The surface is uneven and a bit threadbare in parts, but the beautiful, enigmatic drawing of the tsutstugaki artist is something wonderful to see.
