An Extra Wide Length of Loose Miura Shibori: Indigo Dyed Cotton

$55.00 USD

mid to late twentieth century
49 1/2" x 25 1/4", 126 cm x 64 cm

This is an extra-wide length of indigo dyed miura shibori cotton, the cotton is not the traditional loom width of approximately 13" or 33 cm.

The pattern is large-scale miura shibori, a tie dyed type that shows a dappled effect as this one does. As can be seen by looking at the attached detail photos the density of shibori changes along the top edge of the piece: the top left corner is dark with indigo and the top right corner is blank.

The texture of the cotton is very nice although it seems the cotton is more than likely powerloomed.

A handsome, good-sized length of shibori.
