An Earth Toned Sakiori Obi: Cotton Rag Weave
mid twentieth century
128" x 8 3/4", 325 cm x 22.25 cm
This is a beautifully hand woven sakiori obi, which is a traditional kimono sash using shredded cloth as its weft yarn.
The overall color palette is a muted range of browns, greys, deep maroons and dirty whites, all made more somber by the use of a brown cotton warp which adds an earthiness to the general tone of the obi's color.
This rustic obi is in good, used condition and it is an especially handsome folk textile--a toned-down beauty.
