An Early to Mid 20th Century Zabuton Cover #1: Small Pattern
$60.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
23" x 19", 58.5 cm x 48.25 cm
This is a cover for a zabuton, a traditional Japanese seating cushion.
It is made from what appears to be commercially loomed cotton which is slightly worn and by touch it feels the cotton was slightly waxed or glazed in the manner of chintz.
The pattern is a repeat of roundels each of which contains a traditional design motif, around about three distinct motifs in all.
The cloth is used and in fairly good condition: there is one very small nick to the cloth but otherwise this is a very serviceable zabuton cover. It is machine stitched.
