An Adolescent Girl's Boldly Graphic Kasuri Kimono: Re-made

$185.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
47 1/2" x 45", 120.75 cm x 114 cm

This is an adolescent girl's cotton kimono that has been re-purposed from something else, either an adult's kimono or perhaps even a futon cover.

The pattern is assertively bold and high in tonal contrast: it is a deep blue/black colored kasuri cotton of good weight. If you look carefully at the attached detail photos you will see how this garment was pieced from something else as there are hand stitched seams still evident.

The shoulder area of this kimono has been tucked in to narrow it and the length has been stitched so the length can be adjusted: these kinds of modifications are often seen on the clothing of children and adolescents.

In general this kimono is in good, used condition and it is a tremendously gratifying thing to look at for its design boldness and its wonderful proportions.

Fantastic.
