A X-Stitched Zokin: Pieced
mid twentieth century
8 1/4" x 12 1/4" , 21 cm x 31 cm
Zokin are traditional Japanese dustrags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.
This is a good-sized and very handsome zokin which is sewn from recycled indigo dyed cotton cloth which has been beautifully sashiko stitched in green thread with a bold, large "X".
The stitching is beautifully executed. Just wonderful.
A very good looking zokin with a lovely composition and good color.
